A Himalayan courtyard at night strung with lamps — guests in conversation around a fire at a long low table, snow peaks faint under the stars.

The shape

Five unhurried days in one Naggar base — you unpack once. Short drives, hours left open on purpose, and one evening the whole journey is built around. You wake without an alarm, eat every meal at one table, and let the days find their own shape — less an itinerary than a week you settle into.

Dates soon — join the First Table to be told first.

The journey

You can book a private chef in any city — that isn’t what this is. What you can’t book anywhere else: an evening in a Himalayan boutique-stay courtyard, kept by a host of the place, with the valley’s own food and a song by the fire — weather allowing, under the open sky. The rest of the days are built the same way: one valley, short drives, and hours left open on purpose.

Hands passing a brass thali by firelight — siddu, red rice, madra and a bowl of ghee — a copper glass of tea alongside on the stone.
The evening

The Aangan evening

One evening in a Himalayan boutique-stay courtyard, given over to a long table and a fire. Weather allowing, it’s held under the open sky, the valley dark beyond it. A host of the place keeps the evening, a skilled chef carries the food, and a singer of the valley closes it — described by role here; the people confirmed for your dates are named in your trip brochure.

Siddu, madra, sepu badi, red rice, ghee and buransh — the valley’s own food, cooked by someone who knows it. If it’s new to you, there’s always something familiar on the table. Nobody is asked to be adventurous, and nobody leaves hungry.

The evening is fully arranged for the open courtyard, set up for the open air. If the weather turns, we move it indoors — the same host, the same table, the same food, the same care. The setting shifts; the evening doesn’t.

Arrive

A courtyard lit for the evening, open to the sky. A fire, a long table, the valley dark beyond it.

Eat

A short menu, the valley’s flavours, at a long table. Built for comfort and conversation, no plating theatre.

Listen

A singer of the valley — a song or two by the fire. You receive it. Nobody is pulled up.

Stay

The hour after dinner is the one people remember. A fire, a table, and nowhere else to be.

And you don’t leave empty-handed — a small piece of the evening goes home with you.

Day by day

Day 1

Reach the valley, and exhale

Arrive by morning, tired from the road. Breakfast, a room, and a long unhurried lunch where you’re staying — nothing is asked of you until you’ve slept it off. Late afternoon, a walk through Naggar and the villages around it: slate roofs, old temples, orchards, the valley as people actually live in it. The evening is the First Fire — a warm dinner, a fire if the weather allows, and the trip lead’s three quiet minutes: a short, unhurried welcome, no speeches.

A small evening fire in a stone courtyard, two chairs and a blanket beside it, tea glasses on the parapet, the dark valley and snowline beyond.
Day 2

Soyal Waterfall, and a backyard orchard

A slow afternoon at Soyal — an easy, beautiful place to sit by the water and let the day open up, with a simple lunch nearby and an unhurried hour before you head back. In season, fruit picked by hand in a local backyard orchard: whatever’s ripe that month, plucked and eaten where it grew. One or two gentle things, chosen well. Never a packed run of stops.

A waterfall stepping through mossy rock into a clear forest pool, flat stones to sit by the water.
Day 3

A soft morning, then the evening that carries the trip

Pangan Gompa after breakfast — a small guided meditation and a butter-lamp offering — back by midday. Then a slow afternoon, on purpose: the energy is saved for the courtyard evening (as described above), which is what the whole journey is arranged around.

A row of brass butter lamps burning on a dark wooden chest in a quiet, weathered interior, morning light from a side window.
Day 4

A mountain picnic, then time that’s yours

A mountain-view picnic — Sethan, or by season a meadow on the lower Bhrigu trail. Then the afternoon belongs to you: a hammock, a canvas, good books, proper games, or nothing at all. Unhurried, never idle. A firelit final dinner.

A picnic laid on a wool blanket in a high meadow — a thermos, two steel plates and a book — mountain ranges beyond.
Day 5

A slow breakfast, then home

No 6 a.m. scramble. The send-off is the Leaving Table: a small printed card with one blank line — “one thing I’m taking back…” — a final photo, water and a snack for the road. The photos and a thank-you land within three days.

A slow breakfast by a window over the valley — emptied plates, a glass of tea, and a small printed card waiting with a pen.

Questions, answered

When are the dates?

Dates soon — join the First Table on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you the moment they open.

What is the courtyard evening, exactly?

One evening in a Himalayan boutique-stay courtyard, given over to a long table and a fire — the valley’s own food, and a song by the fire from a singer of the valley. It’s set up for the open sky; if the weather turns, we move it indoors with the same care. Host, chef and singer are described by role; names go in your trip brochure.

Who is this for?

Aangan is for people who’d rather sink into one place than tick off a circuit — families, close friends, couples, or a solo traveller at ease in a small group of up to fourteen. Unhurried days, every meal at one table, and one long evening you’ll still be talking about months later.

How big is the group?

A small one — a table of up to fourteen, twin sharing. Small enough that the courtyard evening still feels like a single table.

What if the weather changes?

The hosted courtyard evening is planned for the open courtyard, and we set it up fully for the open air. If the weather turns, we move it indoors — same host, same table, same food, same care. The setting shifts; the evening doesn’t.

How are rooms shared?

Rooms are twin-sharing at the property, held for the group. Tell us your rooming preference when you enquire and we will confirm what’s possible.

What about taxes?

₹52,000 per person is the whole price, inclusive of GST. Nothing is added at the end.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation charges follow our standard schedule: 10% if you cancel 60 or more days before departure, 25% at 45–59 days, 50% at 30–44 days, 75% at 15–29 days, and 100% within 14 days. If we cancel — including because the journey does not reach its minimum group size — you choose a full refund, another departure, or a travel credit. See the full cancellation policy.

Is alcohol served?

Not at the Aaroh table — our meals are alcohol-free. What you choose to do on your own time is your own.

The valley at first light — a river threading between villages and orchards in bloom, mist and snow up the ridge.

Your only task is arrival.
